School Profile

UCLA Anderson is the only top business school in Los Angeles, situated just a hair away from the city’s iconic Sunset Boulevard. Anderson’s opportune location sustains much of the experience and value of the MBA, putting students in proximity to many of LA’s finest tech and entertainment companies. What is more, the 13M-person metropolis offers an enormous amount of cultural and recreational opportunities, as well as great weather – LA averages 284 sunny days per year – which makes for an excellent living experience for Anderson students.

MBA students at UCLA tend to be more focused and experienced. The MBA class of 2023 had an average of six years of work experience, compared to five for most other programs. To foster a collaborative culture, class sizes are kept small at roughly 330 students. Academically, the program is on the more flexible side; students may choose up to two of 15 possible specializations, as well as benefit from Anderson’s nine Centers of Excellence. The school’s student-centered approach is also evident in its employment support; its Parker Career Management Center is repeatedly lauded by students, reflecting its ranking as the third best in the world for career services by the Financial Times, and first among the top business schools.

Graduates of Anderson are likely to gravitate toward the area’s tech scene; 33% of the MBA class of 2021 entered that sector, with finance and consulting at 19% and 16%, respectively. The healthcare and entertainment industries drew 8% and 6% of graduates, above the average for most schools.  In terms of geographic distribution, 74% of graduates settled in the West of the US, with 62% in California alone.

Notable UCLA Anderson alumni include Dan Beckerman (President and CEO of AEG, MBA 1996),  Susan Wojcicki (CEO of YouTube, MBA 1998), Mike Hopkins (SVP for Prime & Amazon Studios, MBA 2001) and David Nathanson (Former Head of Business Operations, FOX Sports Media Group, MBA 2004).
