School Profile

Located in Hanover, Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business blends the traditions of a New England town with the resources and reputation of an Ivy League institution. However, if there is one thing that defines the Tuck MBA, it is certainly its community. Classes are intentionally small – the class of 2023 numbers only 294 students – so that students form strong bonds, many of which last beyond the program. That Tuck connection is exemplified by the fact that as many as 70% of Tuck alumni contribute money to the school, outdoing alumni of all other schools by a wide margin.

Students at Tuck are analytically sharp and tend to bring a wide variety of viewpoints to class. MBA students in the class of 2023 averaged a GMAT of 724, and 45% came from arts, humanities, or social science undergraduate programs, the highest percentage at any school. Moreover, the class was one of the most gender-diverse of all programs with 46% of women.

Academically, the Tuck MBA is known for being a strong general management program. The curriculum is enhanced by six centers, some industry-focused, some business-thematic: private equity & venture capital, entrepreneurship, healthcare, digital strategies, business, government & society, and energy, sustainability & innovation. Experiential learning and global opportunities are available under the TuckGo programme. Students planning careers with a quantitative or technical focus may also pursue a STEM-designated Management Science and Quantitative Methods certificate.

Following graduation, the Tuck MBA class of 2021 predominantly chose consulting with 36%, followed by finance with 23% and tech with 15%. Notably, 13% of graduates joined the healthcare sector, the highest percentage among all US programs. In terms of geographic distribution, 53% of graduates stayed in the Northeast, 20% moved to the West, and the rest spread in single digits across the rest of the country and abroad.

Notable Tuck alumni include Peter Dolan (Chairman and CEO of Bristol-Myers Squibb, MBA 1980), Roger McNamee (Founder of Elevation Partners and Silver Lake Partners, MBA 1982), Jack Herrick (Founder of WikiHow, MBA 1997) and Sarah Irving (Executive Vice President of Irving Oil, MBA 2014).
