INSEAD

School Profile

With the slogan “The Business School for the World”, INSEAD offers a one-of-a-kind MBA program. Most noticeably, INSEAD has three campuses, one in Fontainebleau, France, one in Singapore, and one in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Over 75 nationalities make up its 1,000-strong MBA class, making it one of the largest in the world, and all nationalities are capped at 10% to ensure diversity. Another unique feature at INSEAD is the requirement that students know three languages by graduation. Finally, its program is also the shortest, allowing students to earn an MBA in as little as 10 months. These special features are no substitute for quality; INSEAD has been repeatedly listed among the top five business schools in the world by the Financial Times, making the top spot in 2021, 2017 and 2016.

INSEAD’s MBA is known for its strengths in general management and strategy. It offers two intakes: a January intake that lasts 12 months and includes a summer internship, and an August intake that lasts 10 months. Upon admission, students specify their campus preferences before being placed in either the France or Singapore campus for the first four months of the program, after which they can change locations. Students interested in US opportunities can also spend two months at Wharton through the INSEAD-Wharton Alliance.

From an employment standpoint, INSEAD is perhaps best known as the school for consulting. 42% of graduates from the December 2020 and July 2021 classes went into management consulting, the highest percentage of any business school in the world. Next on the list were TMT with 19% of graduates, other corporate sectors with 16% and finance with 14%. 51% of graduates accepted positions in Europe, followed by 26% in Asia Pacific, 9% in North America, 8% in Africa and the Middle East, and 5% in South America.

Notable INSEAD alumni include Johann Schneider-Ammann (Former President of Switzerland, MBA 1983), Tidjane Thiam (Former CEO of Credit Suisse, MBA 1988), Niels Christiansen (CEO of The Lego Group, MBA 1993) and Frederic Mazella (Founder and President of BlaBlaCar, MBA 2008).
